Guess who went to Kamakura today?

Going to have to go back sometime for a more thorough visit, there are approximately a gazillion temples and I only visited the one... I plunked myself down next to the giant buddha statue and just sketched it for the afternoon, pretty much. The picture was fighting me. It's still not quite working for me, and I'm not sure what it is. It lacks... weight, maybe? Too fussy? Too flat? Guh.

I wish I could blame the model, but Daibutsu-sama was an absolute sport. Very patient. Didn't move an inch.

Next time I'm in the neighbourhood, I think I'll force myself to move a little quicker, both art wise and tourist wise. Maybe set myself a time limit and work on filling up a page with a bunch of little, quick sketches?
